Die Serie dreht sich um die Familie Parker, den Familienvater Nate Parker, Jr., seine Frau Robin Randall und ihren Kindern, Delilah und Jared, die eigentlich nur einen schönen Strandurlaub in Florida verbringen wollten, sich jedoch auf einem Road Trip von ihrem Zuhause in Syracuse, New York nach Florida wiederfinden. Ihre Reise wird dabei immer wieder von Autopannen, Strafverfolgungsbehörden, unvorhergesehene medizinische Pannen und sich einmischenden Einheimischen unterbrochen. Darüber hinaus wird bekannt, dass Nate auf Grund von beruflichen Schwierigkeiten auf der Flucht vor dem Gesetz ist und deshalb Hintergedanken für die Reise nach Florida hat, wovon die restliche Familie aber nichts ahnt. Zusätzlich werden die Ereignisse durch diverse Rückblenden sowie einer Rahmenhandlung – in Form eines Verhörs an dem mehrere Strafverfolgungsbehörden beteiligt sind und diverse, nicht näher beschriebene Straftat aufzuklären versuchen – beleuchtet

Nate, Robin and the kids are headed from Syracuse to Ft. Lauderdale in a janky mini van instead of flying. Between truckers, aggressive drivers and road side breakfast spots, nothing is really what it seems on the road.

Having driven their van, 'Blue Thunder', into a ditch, it has to be repaired over-night. The Parkers stay at a nearby motel, Swift Stay Suites. What could possibly go right?

The Parkers are barely back on the road when Nate gets pulled over for driving under the influence. He's completely sober but somehow there's still some jail time involved.

Nate needs to take a detour to Salvation, Florida where it's Christmas every day of the year - except on Christmas. Things get tense when the family discovers that Nate has been lying to them.

The Parkers finally make it to Ft. Lauderdale only to have Nate's plan of getting his job back completely unravel. Fortunately, at a nearby race track, there is hope.

Nate, Robin and the kids attempt to take down Nate's company in epic whistle blowing fashion. It won't be easy, but if there's one thing we've learned about this family is that they don't give up without at least a punch to the throat and maybe a cheap kick to the groin.

Nate is offered a new job in New York City, so the family moves from Syracuse to the Big Apple. Robin isn't thrilled about the idea. And of course, getting there will be way harder than it should be.

Die Wahl
Edie (Laura Benanti) setzt die Überwachung der Parkers fort, wobei sie es vor allem auf das dümmste Mitglied der Familie abgesehen hat.

Das Auswärtsspiel
Edie (Laura Benanti) ermittelt undercover als Ko-Trainerin im Hockeyteam von Jared (Liam Carroll) und Delilah (Ashley Gerasimovich). Als sie gemeinsam zu einem Auswärtsspiel fahren, wird Robin (Natalie Zea) eifersüchtig auf die mysteriöse Fremde.
