Als Bauunternehmer Adam von seiner Frau Andi erfährt, dass sie wieder als Labortechnikerin in einem Krankenhaus arbeiten gehen will, hat er plötzlich nicht nur den Haushalt, sondern auch die Erziehung der drei gemeinsamen Kinder an der Backe. Schnell stellt er fest, dass sein neuer Alltag als Hausmann doch nicht ganz so verläuft, wie geplant. Adams älterer Bruder und Geschäftspartner Don grätscht auch gerne mal dazwischen und sorgt für regelmäßigen Bruderzwist. Und als wäre die eigene Familie nicht schon genug Ballast, muss Adam auch noch die gutgemeinten Erziehungsratschläge von Marie ertragen, deren Kinder die gleiche Schule wie Adams besuchen. Wertvoll sind allerdings die Tipps von Hausmann Lowell, der schon seit einigen Jahren weiß, wie man(n) einen Haushalt schmeißt. Im Laufe der Zeit mischt sich auch Joe), Adams bissiger Vater, in die Erziehungsarbeit und die Ehe seines Sohnes ein.
